Needy people are, at the root, selfish people. Only when the Water of Life, Jesus Christ (see Ezekiel 47), quenches one's thirst for identity, purpose, and self-fulfillment can a human being love someone else without conditions. The New Covenant and its unconditional promises of God's love, favor, and blessings in the Messiah is the source of one's inner thirst being quenched.
