Talking with Your Toddlers in Time
How imagination is the inspiration for your children's education.
Philip Melanchthon (b. 1497 - d. 1560) came to an elementary school and addressed the students (ages 4-8) with these words:
“Hail, reverend pastors, doctors, licentiates, superintendents!”
“Hail, most noble, most prudent, most learned lords, consuls, praetors, judges, governors, chancellors, secretaries, magistrates, professors!”
When a few educators listening smiled and laughed, Melanchthon said:
“I’m not joking. My speech is serious. I look at these little kids not as they are now but as the Divine mind purposes, on which account they’re delivered to us for instruction. Certainly, such leaders will come from them…”
Why should we not, with equal confidence, declare a glorious future for our children and grandchildren?
