Pray for U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson
Public service turns to personal slander when policies are about power, not principle.
Mike Johnson, the newly elected Speaker of the House, is a Christian man of character.
He is an attorney from Louisiana. For many years, he served in a volunteer leadership role at the Southern Baptist Convention.
Mike’s wife, Kelly, and their four children, Hannah, Abigail, Jack, and Will, are members of Cypress Baptist Church in Benton, Louisiana.
Mike is the 56th Speaker of the United States House.
He’s one of the smartest, for sure. Behind closed doors, by secret ballot, 44 House Republicans cast votes against Mike Johnson.
Johnson then asked for a Roll Call vote to place every Republican on the record about their vote For or Against Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House.
The vote for Mike Johnson as the 56th Speaker of the House magically became unanimous among the Republicans (220 to 0). Some Republican U.S. House members do things privately that they’d never want to be known publicly.
Politics Becomes Personal
Immediately after Speaker Johnson’s election, leftists, socialists, and Marxists began slandering Mike Johnson. I understand what the Speaker, his wife, and his children are enduring.
I ran for U.S. Congress in 2022 against a thirty-year Congressional incumbent. Rachelle (my wife) and (I enjoyed every minute of the experience. The people of western Oklahoma (OK-03) are the “salt of the earth.”
But the experience taught me something that I’ll never forget:
When arguments can’t be won on principle, the truth-teller must be attacked personally.
Mike Johnson, Kelly, and the Johnson kids are beginning to experience such assaults.
After the Maine massacre this week, Speaker Johnson said:
“At the end of the day, the problem is the human heart. It’s not guns. It’s not weapons.”
So, if you can’t win on principle, you begin to attack the person.
The personal attacks on Speaker Mike Johnson began with ludicrous accusations that Mike “adopted a black child” while single because he’s a pedophile.
That’s a sick accusation. The Marxists can’t win the battle for our country on principle, so they resort to the slander of a person.
