A major flaw with the modern evangelical church is talking about “going to heaven” as if that is the goal of the Gospel.
In truth, our LORD taught us to pray:
“Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done,
On Earth as it is in Heaven.”
One of the reasons church-going people struggle in this life is because the Gospel message has been truncated to “dying and going to heaven” from “bringing heaven to earth by my life” as I become salt and light to a decaying and dark world.
If you struggle to grasp what I’m saying, I encourage you to listen to N.T. Wright, in this short video, “What’s Wrong with the Modern Church,”
N.T. nails it.
The video below is only FOUR minutes long, and you’ll be thinking about it all day.
