Is There Anything Future in the Bible?

Yes! But it may not be what you think.

‘And He has given Him (the Messiah) the authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice (the Messiah’s voice), and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.’ - John 5:27-29

Two things I ask of you, LORD;
do not refuse me before I die:
Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.

Proverbs 30:7-8

Of the 200 posts published over the last two years, ‘The Rapture Makes Zero Biblical Sense’ is one of the most-read within 24 hours of publication on this Substack.

It led to people asking several questions, including one that comes from a reader who details some personal information about his Christian life, then asks his question:

‘Wade, I was raised with the teaching pre-dispensational, premillennial teaching of Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, and all the evangelical television preachers. I was taught that Daniel’s 70th week (Daniel 9:24-27), or the seven final years of the 490-year time period outlined by Daniel, runs like this:

After a gap of over 2,000 years (this church age), the 70th week of Daniel begins with the Rapture (the snatching away of Christians), followed by seven years of the Antichrist’s world leadership, during which the Temple in Jerusalem will be rebuilt in a time of peace.

However, in the middle of those seven years (the 70th week of Daniel), the world will go through a Great Tribulation where the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will judge the world, when the battle of Armageddon begins with China and Russia mounting forces against the Jews in the valley of Megiddo (Israel).

Just as it seems nuclear devastation of the Earth will occur, Jesus will return and establish His Kingdom on Earth for 1000 years, Satan will be bound, and the saints will come back to Earth to rule with Jesus over others ‘Left Behind’ from the Rapture.

So all of my adult Christian life, 'I’ve been waiting to be raptured (snatched away) out of this world’s coming troubles.

Now, having read your post, ‘The Rapture Makes Zero Biblical Sense,' and after years of listening to you teach through Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Revelation, not to mention your audio messages (like Mind the Gap and other series), I now get it!

However, I just one question for you:

‘Do you believe there’s anything future in the Bible?’

YES! Is the Answer

It’s not as complicated as you might think. You must change the way you think about Christ’s Kingdom and the New Covenant to see where I’m coming from.

Matthew 24 and Revelation beautifully portray the inauguration of the unconditional NEW COVENANT (Agreement) that God makes with His people from every nation in the world at the FIRST COMING OF JESUS, while at the same time, bringing to an end God’s OLD COVENANT with national Israel.

The Kingdom of Christ, after His resurrection and ascension to heaven, is now reigning over all the nations. The conditional OLD COVENANT (Agreement) with the nation of Israel, a nation chosen by God to be a ‘light to all the nations’, comes to an end.

The nation of Israel in the Old Testament failed in its conditional agreement with YHWH. However, the true and faithful Israel, Jesus the Messiah, fulfilled the Law and gives perfect righteousness to those in union with Him, making believers members of His kingdom now!

For those who still have a difficult time understanding how the Kingdom of Christ is already here, do a little mental exercise:

See the New Testament beginning with 5 BOOKS OF THE NEW COVENANT LAW OF LOVE in Jesus Christ like the Old Testament begins with 5 BOOKS OF OLD COVENANT LAW (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Number, Deuteronomy).

  • Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and REVELATION are the 5 Gospel books of the New Covenant, so see them as the theological basis for your living in Christ’s Kingdom now!

  • The books of Acts through Jude comprise Christianity’s historical and theological growth.

Christians worship Christ, not the books that tell us about Him. You must realize that ancient pastors compiled the canon of the New Testament 350 years after Christ.

The order of the New Testament books sometimes confuses Christians. If you could ever comprehend Revelation as ‘the end of the Old Covenant, and the Revelation of Jesus Christ as the King of kings and Inaugurator of a New Agreement with all the nations of the world, then you will come to understand the power of being in His Kingdom - NOW!

For those with an appetite to learn more, read this insightful article that outlines my perspective on Christ’s Kingdom.

So, with my understanding that you and I as believers are ALREADY LIVING IN Christ’s EVERLASTING KINGDOM, what’s ahead for us in terms of linear time?
