The term "gaslighting" was coined from the 1938 British play Gas Light, in which a husband manipulates a wife into thinking she is crazy by slyly changing the intensity of the gas lights in their home when she is alone.
In our day, the verb “gaslighting” means
To manipulate (someone) using psychological methods into questioning their own sanity or powers of reasoning.

This morning, Friday, July 5, 2024, at 7:30 a.m. Central Time, the Department of Labor Statistics issued its newest labor report.
The BLS reported that the United States added 206K jobs in June, above the 190K expected.
That’s good. That means our economy is growing!
Not so fast. In that same BLS report, the government crossed a threshold never reached in the United States history reporting of the labor market.
The government has gaslighted the American people for the past year.
