Glen Powell Almost Named His Dog Enid
Glenn Powell adopted a shelter dog and almost named him Enid.
Despite some initial doubts about profitability, Twisters has already been successful at the box office. It ended its opening week (July 19-21, 2024) with a $119.6 million take and is now expected to secure $155 million by Sunday, July 28, 2024.
That total would put it past $150 million domestically, an impressive take for the disaster movie.
With a budget of $200 million, Twisters still has some time before it achieves box office profitability, but the movie is well on its way to a $500 million box office haul.
Filmed in Oklahoma
Like the original 1996 TWISTER movie, all scenes in the 2024 TWISTERS sequel, even the opening scenes representing New York City, were filmed in Oklahoma.
Lead actor Glenn Powell shares how, during filming, lead actress Daisy Edgar-Jones caused him to fall in love with Oklahoma line dancing.
While filming Twisters in Oklahoma, Glenn Powell and girlfriend Gigi Paris adopted a Los Angeles shelter dog.
Glen Powell named his shelter dog Brisket and called him “1.5 pounds of raw power.” Powell wrote in an Instagram caption.
“It's a ruff world out there, so I thought it was about time I hire a proper bodyguard,”
Glen Powell adopted the L.A. rescue dog while filming Twisters in Oklahoma, and according to Glen:
“I almost named my dog ENID.”

ENID - The New York Times 4-Letter Word
ENID is a crossword connoisseur’s delight:
Four letters, two vowels, and a perfect bridge fit.
The New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and other major papers have used ENID in their crossword puzzles to help lift the veil of obscurity over Enid, Oklahoma.
From Paris to Papua New Guinea, Rome to Rhodesia, Istanbul to Indonesia, and places in between, English-speaking people will read crossword clues and discover that Enid is “a city founded during the 1893 Cherokee Strip Land Run,” or “a Chisholm Trail city in Oklahoma,” or “the county seat of Garfield County,” or “the site of Vance Air Force Base.”
However, Enid, Oklahoma, is becoming more well-known because of Hollywood. From Dillinger (filmed in Enid) to Far and Away (where Tom Cruise met his future wife Nicole Kidman while filming in and around Enid), to Twister (the original), to Killers of the Flower Moon, to Twisters (the sequel), Enid, Oklahoma, is becoming known in Hollywood.
To all my award-winning bar-b-que friends (like Mark Kull), next year at Enid’s Red Dirt BBQ Festival, in honor of Glen Powell’s dog “Brisket,” we will have a special award for the person who comes to Enid and wins the Gold Brisket Award.
Hurrah for Enid! Thanks for cheering it on, brother.
